Tricycle driver hangs self; leaves teenage son
MANILA, Philippines—The body of a tricycle driver who tried to kill himself last year was found by his son hanging from a beam in the ceiling of their house in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Monday morning.
Jose Calim had hung himself with a blanket he tied around his neck. His body was found around 2:30 a.m. by his 13-year-old son who told the police that they had gone out the night before to meet some of the victim’s friends for a few drinks.
The teenager said when they got home around 1 a.m. Monday, he stepped out again after a few minutes to go to an Internet shop, leaving his father alone in their house. PO2 Dennis Turla of the Manila Police District Homicide section said that the victim’s son had informed investigators that his father tried to kill himself last year for a still unknown reason but he managed to talk him out of it.—Maricar B.
