MANILA, Philippines – Embattled Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. claimed to have known God better after his trip to the Holy Land.

He made the statement after getting back in the country Sunday afternoon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1.

Revilla said he is ready to face the accusations against him over the pork barrel scam, Inquirer Radio 990AM reported on Monday.

Revilla, who faces plunder charges, was quoted in the report as saying his family went around the Holy Land during their two-week pilgrimage in Israel.

Revilla then said in the report that he had “peace of mind” when he was there.

He also claimed to have known God more, a Philippine Entertainment Portal report quoted Revilla as saying.

“We were given more light about the incident surrounding us. I have known God even more,” Revilla said in the report.

Revilla maintained his confidence that the charges against him would be cleared.

“If I want to run away (from the charges), I could’ve have done so because I was already outside [the country],” Revilla said.

“But I didn’t because I know I will get through this,” the senator added.

Revilla and his colleagues – senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada Jr. – face plunder and graft charges over their alleged involvement in the scam of diverting their Priority Development Assistance Funds to ghost projects through the bogus organizations of businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles. The senators have denied the allegations.
