DIGOS CITY, Philippines – Three persons were injured, one critically, when a security guard at a banana plantation threw a hand grenade at a sari-sari store in the village of San Miguel here in Tuesday night.
Village chief Salvador Lascuña identified the victims as Danilo Bermudez, his wife Neneng and neighbor Ramon dela Cruz.
Lascuña said police identified the suspect as Rodelo Basig, a security guard at a banana plantation nearby, who escaped after the blast.
Police believe that the suspect also fired a gun at Bermudez as doctors at a hospital found a .38-caliber slug in his body.
Initial investigation revealed the incident was triggered by a land dispute.
