Fire hits Manila residential area

MANILA, Philippines–Firefighters are still trying to extinguish the blaze currently sweeping through a residential area in Sta. Ana, Manila Friday afternoon.

A Metro Manila Development Authority advisory said over Twitter that an ongoing fire is engulfing a stretch of homes along Taal Street in Barangay 900 in Punta, Sta. Ana district.


The fire started at around 5 p.m. It reached the Task Force Alpha after two hours at 7 p.m.

When a fire is placed under the said task force, about 17 trucks are deployed in the area.


The Bureau of Fire Protection is still determining the number of houses affected.
