COTABATO CITY, Philippines — After a week-long Army and police covert operation, another suspect in the infamous 2009 Maguindanao massacre was arrested in Mamasapano town in Maguindanao on Sunday.
Chief Superintendent Noel delos Reyes, police chief for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said suspect Khominie Inggo surrendered after sensing soldiers and policemen surrounding his home in Barangay (village) Manongcaling.
Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-ARMM) seized from Inggo an unlicensed M-14 assault rifle with ammunition.
Inggo, a member of the government militia of former Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr., was among the massacre suspects who remained at large and his capture carried a P250,000 reward.
Colonel Dickson Hermoso, 6th Infantry Division spokesperson, quoting an Army report, said village officials provided the military and elements of the 45th Infantry Battalion on the exact location of the suspect.
Inggo admitted he was once a member of Maguindanao para-military troops but denied participation in the massacre, Delos Reyes said.
After undergoing tactical interrogation, Inggo was turned over to the CIDG-ARMM office in Cotabato City and will be turned over next to court custody.
