DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — An 80-year-old farmer stabbed and killed his son after a fight in Sual town in Pangasinan province on Sunday, police said on Monday.

Police Officer 1 Raquel Doquena, Sual police duty investigator, said Inocencio Anonuevo stabbed his son, Froilan Anonuevo, 39, as the latter punched him inside their house in Barangay (village) Caoayan.

“When told by his father that the food was in the refrigerator, Froilan went to the kitchen and threw and scattered everything there,” Doquena said.

She said the father tried to pacify Froilan but he yelled at his father and then threw a portable concrete stove at him, causing the old man to fall.

Froilan went after his father and punched him, Doquena said.

“At this point, the father took hold of a kitchen knife on the floor and stabbed his son in the abdomen,” she said.

Froilan died while being taken to a hospital.
