MANILA, Philippines – Ruby Tuason, the accused-turned-pork barrel scam whistleblower, told a Senate hearing on Thursday that she had a falling out with former First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo after she burned her husband’s belongings when she “caught” him.
She did not elaborate.
Tuason’s late husband, Butch Tuason, was Arroyo’s first cousin.
“When I caught my husband, I burned all his clothes… I burned everything,” Tuason said when she testified before the blue ribbon committee on Thursday.
The mention of her husband and Arroyo cropped up during the hearing when she was asked about her connection in Malacanang during the time of then president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Tuason said her husband and Arroyo were “pretty close”.
“They were so shocked and I also myself was shocked…” Tuason said on she did to her husband’s belongings.
Senator Teofisto Guingona III, chairman of the committee, then commented : “Delikado ka palang magalit.”
“It’s a good thing I didn’t burn him,” Tuason said, drawing laughter from the gallery of the session hall.
