The robbers were later picked out by the victims from a police rogues’ gallery, with one of them turning out to have been linked to a robbery at a beauty and wellness center last year.
A report by Police Officer 3 Danilo Tuscano of the Quezon City Police District’s Fairview station identified the robbers as Ernesto Buyan Jr. and Mohammad Sandigan who robbed the Ninang’s Pansit Malabon on the ground floor of the Village Mall on Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay (village) Greater Fairview.
Buyan, according to the police, was also involved in a robbery last December 30 at the Serendipity Salon and Wellness Center at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Marlboro Street in Barangay East Fairview. He was also identified then from the local police rogues’ gallery, a compilation of photos of persons previously arrested and booked at the police station.
According to the case investigator, Tuesday’s robbery occurred around 5:30 p.m. when two men came in. They initially posed as customers but then pulled out guns and announced the robbery.
They divested two female customers—a teacher and a Quezon City court employee—of their cash, gadgets and jewelry, all worth nearly P80,000, before taking the restaurant’s P20,000 earnings along with the three employees’ mobile phones worth nearly P7,000. The robbers then fled with the loot.
During investigation at the Fairview police station, the victims recognized the robbers from the rogues’ gallery and picked them out.
Tuscano said that a case of robbery would be filed against the identified suspects in the city prosecutor’s office while police try to bring them in.
