Aquino waits in line to get driver’s license

MANILA, Philippines—President Aquino on Thursday found time to personally renew his driver’s license, two days before it expires when he celebrates his 54th birthday on Saturday.

Aquino “waited in line along with other license applicants” at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Tayuman, Manila, according to a Palace statement.

Malacañang took the opportunity to associate the President’s action to his policy against abusive government officials, or what Aquino referred to as “wang-wang mentality.”

“As a law-abiding citizen, he went to the Land Transportation Office, lined up, didn’t ask for special treatment, went through the process, and completed the process in the renewal of his license,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma told reporters.
