Robber-extortionist takes dentist’s bait

At least he went to jail tartar-free.

A man who allegedly robbed a female dentist after having his teeth cleaned was arrested in Manila late Tuesday.

The suspect was identified as Ernesto Perez, 32, from Sta. Cruz, who was arrested in an entrapment operation after he also tried to extort P50,000 from the victim, according to an investigation conducted by PO3 Aaron Cortez of the Manila Police District’s Sampaloc station.

The dentist, Cindy Fresco, filed a complaint in the police station Monday afternoon saying that a patient took her cell phone and about P8,000 in cash at gunpoint.

On Tuesday, Fresco informed the police that the suspect contacted her and asked for P50,000 in exchange for her phone.

An entrapment operation was set up, leading to the suspect’s arrest at 11:12 p.m. Tuesday.
