Girl’s body found in Cavite subdivision ditch

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A 10-year-old girl was found dead in a ditch in a residential subdivision in the town Naic in Cavite Thursday night, hours after she was reported missing from her school, police said Friday.

Senior Superintendent Joselito Esquivel, Cavite police director, told the inquirer in a telephone interview, local residents found the body of Franchesca Santos in a drainage ditch inside the City Land subdivision in Barangay Malainen Luma in Naic.

He said Santos was last seen leaving Malainen Luma Elementary School with a young man around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Santos’ parents and members of the neighborhood watch went looking for Santos until some residents found her body around 9:45 p.m.

Esquivel said the girl had a wound on the head that appeared to have been inflicted with a blunt object. The police were still trying to determine if she was sexually molested.
