Cebuana Pages improves Philta ranking to No. 7
CEBUANA netter Jana Marie Pages started the new year with a marked improvement in the premier Girl’s 18-Under Age Group division of the Philippine Tennis Association’s (Philta) National Age Group rankings after she rose three spots higher as of Jan. 1.
From no.10 in the November rankings, Pages has risen to no.7 as the top player of B.R.I.G.H.T. Academy in Cebu City to become the only Cebuana netter to land in the top 10 in the 18-Under Girls national rankings at the start of the new year.
Pages, who is fresh from winning a gold medal in the 5th Milo Little Olympics National Finals tennis at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club’s tennis courts in Pardo, Cebu and in the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group at Baseline, garnered a total of 820 points to claim the seventh spot.
Roxanne May Resma topped the Girls 18-Under rankings with an overall total of 3,795 points followed by Khim Iglupas at no.2 with 2,695 points, Maia Bernadette Balce at no.3 with 2,538 points, Katrina Orteza at no.4 with 1,635 points and Maria Dominique Ong at no.5 with 1,460 points. Erika Manduriao is at no.6 with 1,060 points followed by Pages then Andrea Nicole Amistad at no.8 with 720 points, Isabela Mendoza at no.9 with 645 points and Isabella Orteza at no.10 with 625 points.
In the Girls 16-Under, Pages is at the no.9 spot with 755 points behind teammate and fellow BRIGHT Academy bet Zethley Mae Alferez, who secured the no.8 spot with 785 points. /Correspondent JADE VIOLETA
