Firecracker injuries breaches 800 mark

MANILA, Philippines—The number of firecracker-related injuries has reached 804 as of 6 a.m. Thursday, Health Assistant Secretary Dr. Eric Tayag said.

Tayag posted in his Twitter account, that of the total incidents, 793 were caused by firecrackers, two by firecracker ingestion and nine due to stray bullets.

Of the 793 firecracker blasts, 306 or 39 percent were from piccolo blasts. The firecracker is among the banned powerful and dangerous pyrotechnics in the Philippines.
