Tabal, Simat top Sinulog Fun run
NATIONAL Milo Marathon queen Mary Joy Tabal and Kenyan Isaac Simat won 5k crowns in yesterday’s Sinulog Fun Run at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Tabal clocked 18 minutes and 31.48 seconds to bag the women’s crown while Simat finished in 15:38.48 to bag the men’s tiara.
Cherry Andrin finished second after clocking 19 minutes and 46.67 seconds. Promising runner Mary Joy Loberanis rounded off the top three female runners after she finished in 19:58.30.
Simat’s closest pursuer was fellow Kenyan Abraham Missos, who finished in 15:51.02, followed by another Kenyan James Mibei (15:57.11).
The route of the running event followed the official route of the Sinulog Mardi Gras grand parade. The race attracted more than 100 runners, some of whom wore Sinulog-themed costumes.
