MANILA, Philippines – Senator Nancy Binay on Monday said she was looking forward to a joyful holiday season despite the many trials her family and the rest of the country had faced.

“Our society was tested this year but I still believe in the Filipino’s resilience, bending like the bamboo in the face of strong winds but never breaking,” she said in her Christmas message.

“Our family as well had to brave some storms but all these shall come to pass as we find hope and joy this Christmas and the year ahead,” the senator added.

Binay said that as the survivors of recent tragedies begin to rebuild their lives, people should also “heal the pain in our hearts, and move on with our lives.”

The message came four days after the senator‘s brother Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay was accused of ordering the arrest of three security guards who prevented them from passing through a restricted gate at the exclusive Dasmariñas Village. The alleged confrontation was caught on camera through the closed-circuit television (CCTV) installed at the gate.
