Food fair to highlight ‘Araw ng Siquijor’
ON its 40th year, Siquijor province will again showcase its products and services at the 2011 agri trade food fair and exhibit that will open on Sept. 12 at the provincial Capitol grounds.
Products ranging from tourism, food to fashion and home accessories will reveal Siquijodnons’ craft and handiwork, the provincial tourism council said.
The six municipalities will display in their booths their respective products and tourism destinations at the One Town One Product (OTOP) fair.
Gov. Shane Fua Jr. said the fair will serve as an opportunity to develop competitive, viable small and medium enterprises and to generate income for creative and skilled traditional craftsmen.
He said the fair will be about developing local skills using indigenous materials and promoting entrepreneurship and partnership.
The governor also said that the trade exhibit will not only serve as an avenue for the province to promote its eco-tourism thrust but will also give the locals and the agri-sectors the opportunity to showcase their best products and delicacies to the local and international tourists and guests.
