MANILA, Philippines—Calling the act extremely deplorable, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

“I directed NBI-NCR, thru OIC [Medardo] De Lemos, to immediately investigate the killings,” De Lima said in a text message Friday.

“I understand that was the third attempt on the life of the mayor and this time the culprits succeeded and its extremely deplorable that even the wife, grandson and another person were also killed,” she said.
