Woman killed in SRP road accident

A 22-year-old woman was killed after the multicab she was driving was rammed by an Elf truck at the South Road Properties in Cebu City past midnight yesterday.

Police identified the fatality as Menchie Fuentes of barangay Datag, Cordova town in Mactan Island.

Her companion Maria Chloe Renalyn Ybañez of  barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, was wounded in the accident.

Police said the driver of the truck labeled Electro Mechanical Contractor Inc. fled after the incident.

The truck’s plate number was PMC-493.

It was raining when the accident occurred and the road was slippery, condition which may have affected the accident, said  SPO1 Anthony Delegero.

Delegero said the truck was bound for Talisay City and may have been running at high speed when the driver lost control of the wheel.

The truck climbed the center island before landing in the opposite lane where the multicab was traveling.

Responding paramedics of the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation later found a man pinned under the truck.

Police said it was possible the that man, who was not immediately identified, was a passenger.

Ybañez and the man were brought to separate hospitals in Cebu City.
