10:59 AM December 16, 2013

Assorted jewelry and gadgets worth at least P1.6 million were stolen when unidentified burglars ransacked a house in a subdivision in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.
Marites Amit, 50, a casino financier,  was out when the burglars struck.
Amit said she left Deca Homes around 3 p.m. last Friday and was shocked to find her home in disarray when she returned home past midnight Saturday.
Amit then sought help from the Theft and Robbery Section of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.
Police said the thieves entered the house by destroying a window on the second floor of the house. A wooden ladder found on the grounds is  believed to have been used by the burglars to gain access into the house.
Amit told police that stolen items included 2 Rolex watches worth P500,000, assorted jewelry worth more than P1 million, an Apple laptop worth P60,000, a Louis Vuitton bag worth P60,000 and a BlackBerry cell phone worth P26,000./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
