Did you know: Manila declared Philippine capital

Exactly 418 years ago on this day, Nov. 19, Manila was declared the capital of the Philippine archipelago through a royal decree issued by King Philip II of Spain. At present, Manila is still considered the country’s capital by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 940 which was signed in 1976.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
