US university confers honorary degrees on Ouano, Cañete

TWO government and school officials from Cebu were conferred with honorary degrees by the Northwestern Christian University of Florida, USA last Sept. 2 at the Mandaue City College (MCC).

Cebu Provincial Board Member Thadeo Ouano was conferred with Doctor of Philosophy in Transformational Leadership (Honoris Causa), while MCC president Dr. Paulus Marie Cañete was conferred with Doctor of Humanities (Honoris Causa).

Bishop Seth Lagunda and Bishop Howard Sarkela, president and founder of Northwestern Christian University respectively, conferred the honorary degrees on Ouano and Cañete.

Ouano said he was happy that a foreign educational institution recognized his achievements as a public servant.

Most of his achievements cited were undertaken during his term as city mayor of Mandaue City from 1998 to 2007.
