MANILA, Philippines—Classes on Friday in some schools in Metro Manila and nearby provinces were canceled due to Supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international name: Haiyan):
Pasig City—all levels, both public and private schools
Valenzuela – preschool to highschool
Marikina -preschool to elementary
Navotas—all levels, both public and private schools
Malabon—preschool-high school, both public and private
Parañaque—all levels, both public and private schools
San Juan—all levels, both public and private schools
Pateros— all levels, both public and private schools
Cavite province—all levels, both public and private schools
Rizal province – preschool to college
Laguna – preschool to college
Metro Manila has been placed under storm Signal No. 2 as of 2 a.m. Thursday, which automatically suspends classes in the elementary and high school levels. Local government units and the schools have their discretion whether to suspend classes in other levels.

Daet, Camarines Norte (all levels)
Dumaguete City (all levels)
Eastern Samar (all levels)
Imus, Cavite (all levels)
Kawit, Cavite (all levels)
Lapu-Lapu City (all levels)
Mandaue City (all levels)
Mendez, Cavite (preschool to high school)
Muntinlupa City (all levels)
Negros Oriental (all levels)
Quezon Province (all levels)
Sorsogon City (all levels)
Southern Leyte (all levels)
Surigao del Norte (all levels)
Tagaytay City (all levels)
Tagum City (all levels)
As of 2 a.m. Thursday, 17 areas in the Visayan region have been placed under Signal No. 4.
