3 soldiers hurt in mortar attack by BIFF in Maguindanao
MANILA, Philippines – Three soldiers were wounded in a mortar attack by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Maguindanao on Monday, the military said.
Soldiers from the Army’s 45th Infantry Battalion were conducting security patrol in Maitumaig village in Datu Unsay town when they were fired upon by the group before 9 a.m., Colonel Dickson Hermoso of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division said.
The rebels used a 60mm mortar, he also said.
Three soldiers wounded in the attack, but their identities were withheld pending the notification of their families.
Hermoso said the soldiers were brought to Camp Siongco Station Hospital.
