THE Sacred Heart Men’s Association Inc., led by its president Francisco Benedicto, donated P500,000 to the Cebu provincial government as assistance for the victims of the recent earthquake.

The donation was turned over to Gov. Hilario Davide III last Tuesday.

Benedicto said the donation will help those who were affected by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu and Bohol last Oct. 15.

“We leave it to the provincial government to decide how the donation should be spent or which areas need it most,” Ambassador Benedicto said. “We are just glad to be of help to the Cebuanos.”

Davide said the assistance would go a long way, especially for the southern towns that were badly hit by the earthquake.

Benedicto also revealed that the Sacred Heart Church suffered minor damages, but these were not enough to suspend Masses.

Benedicto and the officers also acknowledged the ladies association of Sacred Heart Church who visited Bohol to also assist the earthquake victims.

“The ladies association of the parish also gave a substantial financial assistance for their counterpart and (that will be) distributed to the Federation of Catholic Association in Bohol,” Benedicto added.
