DOST to hold training for CNC machinists
THE Metals Industry and Research Development Center of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is implementing a project entitled, “Human Resource Intervention for Sustainable Growth and Competitiveness of the M & E Sector: Development and Implementation of Appropriate Training Curriculum Design for CNC Machine Tool Programming and Operations.”
The project is targeting 800 participants nationwide.
The participant must be at least second year college, taking up Mechanical Technology or related course or a graduate of a Voc-Tech course, preferably with basic knowledge and skills in conventional machining (turning or milling) and basic computer operation.
The 52-day training program is divided into three parts: part 1 – Basic and Common Competencies; part 2 – Core Competency; and part 3 – Industry Immersion.
For unemployed participants, the training is provided for free, plus a daily allowance of P300 to help defray their cost of living while attending the training. For those employed, a training fee of P10,000 will be charged.
After the training, participants will be required to sign a three-year service contract in the Philippines.

Application deadline is on Nov. 13.
