Bohol quake fatalities at 185, 9 still missing – NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines – At least 185 people have died from the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Bohol and other provinces, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.

NDRRMC said the death toll in Bohol has reached 172 while Cebu has had 12 fatalities and Siquijor just one.

Meanwhile, nine people are still missing in Bohol: five in Sagbayan where the epicenter was detected, three in Loon which is the hardest-hit town in Bohol, and one in Clarin.

At least 583 were injured in Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Oriental and Iloilo.

Cost of damages to infrastructure remains at almost P550 million as number of totally damaged houses was reduced to 8,480 through validation of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. At least 28,165 houses were partially damaged.

The NDRRMC report said of the 38 bridges affected, 34 are already passable while 16 roads are functional out of the 18 damaged by the quake.

All airports and seaports in Cebu and Bohol have earlier become operational while electricity in the 47 affected municipalities of Bohol has been restored.
