Heavy equipment operator killed in copper mine accident

A ROAD roller operator of Carmen Copper Corp. in Toledo City died after the equipment he was driving fell into a pit Tuesday afternoon.

Victim Rolando Astronomo, 40, of sitio Panagdait, barangay DAS sustained severe injuries all over his body.

His colleagues told police that they heard a loud thud and when they checked the pit, they saw Astronomo already unconscious. Astronomo was rushed to a nearby hospital where was declared dead by the attending physician./Correspondent Christine Emily L. Pantaleon
