Girl raped by neighbor
An eight-year-old special child was allegedly raped by her neighbor in Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu.
Police said the 53-year-old suspect (name withheld) would allegedly rape d the girl whenever he gets drunk.
Police said the suspect would entice the girl to his house by giving her P50.
At around 12 p.m. Monday, the girl’s mother saw her daughter leaving the suspect’s house.
The mother’s suspicions were then aroused for fear that her daughter had been abused.
The mother sought help from the police that led to the man’s arrest.
PO2 Clarita Natavio of the Daanbantayan police said the suspect admitted molesting the girl after he was arrested Tuesday noon.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act have been filed against the suspect, police said./Correspondent Christine Emily L. Pantaleon
