Capitol gives CSOs until Monday to sign up

THE Cebu Provincial Board (PB) called civil society organizations to renew their accreditation with the Capitol before October 7.

In an announcement by the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), civil society organizations are required to submit an application form, letter of application, a board resolution signifying the intention for accreditation and a registration certificate.

Aside from those, a list of the organization’s current officers and members, annual accomplishment report of the previous year and its financial statement should also be submitted.

Among those who qualify as CSOs are non-government organizations (NGOs), people’s organizations, civic organizations, cooperatives, social movements and professional and business groups, it said.

According to a memorandum circular from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), CSOs and other similar organizations are required to renew their accreditation before a local government unit (LGU) every three years.

Court extends BOC revamp TRO

EVEN with the 17-day extension by the court to the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) sought by district collectors of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) to an order requiring them to report to a newly organized office by the Department of Finance, the designate of Commissioner Ruffy Biazon in the Port of Cebu continues to function.

Yesterday, the four personnel sent by the DOF to conduct an inventory and audit of personnel after the revamp, left for Manila.

“They were impressed despite the disruption that happened and they saw that people here are helping each other to continue our work,” said Paul S. Alcazaren, acting district collector of the Port of Cebu.
