Cops looking at revenge angle in slay of Agusan farmer
MANILA, Philippines—Authorities were looking at revenge as possible motive behind the killing of a 70-year-old farmer in Agusan del Sur who was facing a rape case, police said Thursday.
Police Superintendent Martin Gamba, Caraga police spokesman, said the victim Gardose “Roming” Castromayor was gunned down by still unidentified assailants in a remote village in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur around 8 a.m. last Tuesday.
Gamba said Castromayor was working at his rice field when he was shot by three men. He suffered several gunshot wounds to different parts of the body and died on the spot.
San Francisco Municipal Police Station is still conducting follow-up investigation for possible identification and apprehension of the suspects, noting that among the angles being looked into was revenge.
Gamba said Castromayor has a pending rape case filed before the Prosecutor’s Office under NPS number 13-03-INV-131-213. He said the complainant is a minor.
The body of Castromayor was brought to Dollete Funeral Homes, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.
