Tricycle driver shot dead in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A  tricycle driver was shot dead by motorcycle-riding suspects in Manila before dawn Thursday, police said.

Senior Police Officer 3 Rodelio Lingcong, case investigator, said the still unidentified victim was shot along the corner of Hollywood and Carrion streets in Sta. Ana, Manila around 3:20 a.m.

Lingcong quoted witnesses as saying that two men on board a motorcycle chased the victim who was on board his tricycle with plate number OT1692 and body number “Mandaluyong 5786.”

When the suspects caught up with the victim, they shot him, hitting him on his chest, back and head.

The victim, between 20 and 30 years old, died on the spot.

Three empty shells from a caliber .38 pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
