Park n’ Go tops Power 40 hoopfest

PARK n’ Go Bakeshoppe of Romy Rama outlasted HLY-Friends, 94-87 Tuesday night to seize the championship of the Power Forty President’s Cup-2013 basketball tournament at the Emilio Jaca Memorial gym in barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

The Breadmakers led 25-23 in the first quarter and 53-44 at the half behind Erik Abatayo who had 14 points in that stretch. They increased their advantage to 10 points, 76-66 at the end of the third.

In the fourth, HLY-Friends threatened at 87-90 with 47 seconds remaining, but Michael Arias and Al Misa canned crucial shots for the seven-point victory.

Jingjing Rama and Michael Arias led Park n’ Go with a game-high 19 points each while Erik Abatayo and Al Misa combined for 28 markers.

FEATURED STORIES

Flor Yosores and Alex Mercado paced HLY-Friends with 17 and 16 points, respectively while Wewe Cabrera (15 points), Jun Capala (15) and Rey Mabalcon (14) also scored in double figures.

Meanwhile, Robert Abasolo fired a game-high 22 points to lift AMBL Enterprises & Advertising of businessman Allan Lim to a 114-102 victory over Water Market in their battle for third.

Kaka Cabatas complimented Abasolo with 17 points while Joel Jaca paced Water Market with 26 points.
