‘IDOL’ replay set Sept. 21

FOR boxing fans who missed its inaugural telecast last Saturday, “IDOL” the latest boxing endeavor of ALA Promotions is set to air again on Sept. 21, Saturday on Studio 23 at 11:30 a.m.

This will feature the bouts billed as IDOL 1: Philippines vs. Indonesia held last Aug. 24 at the Escalante City Coliseum and witnessed by 3,000 fans.

Hometown boy Melvin “Topgun” Gumban served as the headliner against Indonesian John Bajawa in a 10-rounder while Mark Vincent “Machete” Bernaldez fought Marangin “Dinamita” Marbun, who once lost to Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista in 2009.

Both ALA boxers came up with impressive knockout wins. Also featured on the card is up and coming Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo.

ALA Promotions created IDOL to help Filipino fighters establish their image in the early stage of their careers before going up as title contenders and future champions.
