Gao siblings win title in AVGCC 2-man team golf

WEIYU and Weifang Gao scored an aggregate of 163 points to grab the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club (AVGCC) Division 1 2-man team title held last Sept. 14, 2013.

Twelve-year-old Weiyu and 10-year-old sister Weifang, both from AVGCC, shook off a bogey and double bogey starts with strings of pars and a birdie from Weiyu to post a 13-stroke lead in the first nine holes with a 75. The siblings then scored identical 44s on the back nine, giving Weiyu a gross of 79 and Weifang, an 84.

Anton Pastoriza and Gen Nagai, bucked a shaky front nine and scored a total of 175 good for second place while the pair of Joan Hortelano and Angela Mangana salvaged third with 178.

Meanwhile, Weiwei Gao and Tatsuyoshi Ochiai topped Division 2 with 176 points. Gao had a four-over-par on the par 70 course while Ochiai had a 102 gross. Second place went to Gabee Crystal and Scott Reyes with their 180 points while Sir Cross Abarintos and Ace Acas combined for 184 points for third place.

Mark James Cannen and Daniel Yap scored 95 and 99 respectively for a total of 194 to pocked the Division 3 trophy. Annika Yeo and Williemae Go had identical 101 scores for a 202 total good for second place while Jerry Abarintos and Guilbert Portia IV came in third with their 221. /Correspondent LOU COLOYAN
