2 lending firm workers killed in Asturias road accident
TWO female collectors of a lending company were killed in a motorcycle accident in barangay Poblacion, Asturias town, northern Cebu.
Restituta Oaminal, the backrider of the motorcycle, died on the spot. The driver, Ritchel Burlaos, was initially taken to the Balamban Provincial Hospital before she was moved to the Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City where she later died.
The victims were workers of Fennel Lending Company. They were on their way to Tuburan town for a round of collections when they met the accident at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in sitio Lapu-Lapu.
Police said that according to witnesses, Burlaos was driving at high speed when she tried to overtake a van-for-hire.
Burlaos lost control of the motorcycle and rammed a boom truck owned by NK Telecom, a contractor of Globe Telecom.
Police said an early warning device was in place a few meters from the boom truck which was in the area as telecommunication wires were being installed.
Article continues after this advertisementIn a separate incident, a man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving hit another motorcycle in barangay Cot-cot, Lilo-an town, northern Cebu last Saturday afternoon.
Article continues after this advertisementThe fatality was identified as Mark Langhay, a resident of barangay Tayud.
Langhay, who drove a Honda XRM motorcycle, overtook from behind the right side of a vehicle before he rammed another motorcycle driven by Raymond Villafranca, said PO2 Routchil Jugalbot.
Langhay suffered head injuries.
Villafranca brought Langhay to a nearby hospital where the victim was declared dead.
