MANILA, Philippines—Veteran journalist Raul Beltran of People’s Tonight died on Tuesday morning from a three-month bout with lung cancer at the Lung Center of the Philippines. He was 62.
A senior political reporter, Beltran’s last assignment was the House of Representatives where symptoms of his illness first manifested.
“He died peacefully and without pain,” said his wife Rachel.
Beltran is survived by wife Rachel; children Rani Jeanmarie, 17, and Ryanna Patricia, 14; mother, Hermogina; brother Rodrigo; and sisters Ma. Concepcion Bagulbagul, Ma. Carmen Rosales and Ma. Corazon Sevilla.
His remains lie at Luke Chapel of the St. Peter’s Memorial Chapel on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
On Saturday, his remains will be transferred to his hometown in Nasugbu, Batangas, where he will be buried on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
