SM Foundation plants 10,000 trees

SM Foundation, together with SM City Cebu managers and employees and its affiliates, Philippine Navy and Cammita people’s organization, successfully held a tree planting activity last Aug. 7 in barangay Camp 4, Talisay City, Cebu.

A total of 10,000 seedlings that included narra, mamalis, guyabano, and guava were planted by more than 200 volunteers on a 20-hectare lot under the supervision of the Cammita.

SM Foundation assistant vice president Cristie Angeles and SM Supermalls vice president for Visayas Operations Joy Veloso led the tree-planting activity.

The “Grow A Million Trees” of SM Foundation is a project geared to support the government’s National Greening Program.

SM Foundation and the DENR Central Office signed a memorandum of agreement to launch the project across SM Supermalls. The SM Group pledged to plant over 400,000 of the 1 million trees this year, with the remaining trees to be planted in five years.

The project will also be carried out in the provinces of Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Nasugbu, and Calatagan in Batangas.
