Jumalon, Buenaventura to take centerstage in painting exhibit
THE Qube Gallery will hold a double exhibit of painters Amihan Jumalon and Boboy Buenaventura in two different venues but under one roof.
The two exhibits will open simultaneously tomorrow and will run until Sept. 14.
Buenaventura’s Playful Mind will be on display at the Qube Gallery on the ground floor of The Henry hotel Cebu, while Jumalon’s Watchwomen will be shown at the hotel’s function hall on the second floor.
Born in Zamboanga and raised in Dumaguete, Jumalon comes from a family of award-winning painters, including her father Edwin Jumalon, Zamboanga’s pride, and brother Winner Jumalon, the youngest Filipino artist to be curated by Sotheby’s Hong Kong.
Amihan’s exhibit Watchwoman features the complexities of womanhood and the many different roles and challenges confronted by women.
The explanations of her paintings are said to elude language but are simply imparted through the painted image.
