Senate starts probe into Cagayan de Oro blast
MANILA, Philippines—Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and Philippines National Police chief, Director General Alan Purisima, showed up at Wednesday’s Senate investigation into the Cagayan de Oro City bombing last month that left at least eight people dead.
The hearing by the Senate committee on public orders and dangerous drugs being headed by neophyte Senator Grace Poe started at around 1p.m.
Other police and local officials, and representatives from the medical profession also attended the hearing.
Most of the victims of the powerful explosion at a restaurant just outside Lim Ket Kai Mall in Cagayan de Oro were doctors and pharmaceutical sales representatives who had just attended a national convention of lung-disease specialists at a nearby hotel.
