Policeman faces charges
A COMPLAINT for attempted murder was filed against a policeman accused of trying to kill four persons in Barili town, south Cebu.
The complaint against PO2 Anselmo delos Santos, 43, was filed by Julian Soronio before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutors’ Office.
In his complaint-affidavit, Soronio, a resident of barangay Mantalongon, Barili, said he was lying on a bench last July 23 when Delos Santos and Jose Emnace approached him.
Soronio said Delos Santos, who appeared to be drunk, grabbed his right hand while Emnace held his other hand.
The complainant said Delos Santos then punched him in the right jaw.
Soronio said Delos Santos asked him to present documents of his motorcycle as well as his driver’s license.
The complainant asked Delos Santos what was his violation but the policeman got irked.
Soronio said Delos Santos pushed him to the ground. The complainant said he ran when he noticed that the policeman had drawn a firearm.
Soronio proceeded to the house of barangay captain Norman Anore.
While he was in Anore’s house, Soronio said he heard Delos Santos shouting “tawag mo og pulis o tanod. (You can call a policeman or barangay tanod).”
When Soronio went to the Barili Police Station to report the incident, Delos Santos came and opened fired at him and three barangay tanods.
