Pro-Aquino neophyte senators get major committees

MANILA, Philippines – Neophyte senators allied with the administration have secured major committees in the Senate.

Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares was elected to head the committees on public order and dangerous drugs , and  public information while Cynthia Villar and Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino were elected heads of the  committees on agriculture and trade, respectively.

Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero is the new chairman of the committee on education; Senator  Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV will head the committee on national defense and Senator Aquilino”Koko” Pimentel III will  be the new head of  the  committee on justice.

The chairmanships of the committees on tourism and public services, on the other hand, will stay with Senators Lito Lapid and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr, respectively.

The initial list of committee assignments was read on the floor by Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.
