Jette Calderon continued to display his peerless kart racing skills as he topped the KT 100 class of the 3rd leg of the Kartzone Superkart Series last Sunday at the Kartzone racing circuit in barangay Panagdait.
Calderon won all but one heat during Sunday’s race and ended the weekend with a proverbial bang as he won the 25-lap final heat with a total time of 12 minutes and 57.465 seconds, nearly three seconds ahead of second-placer Joseph Rojo. Justin Go rounded out the top three with a total time of 13:09.779.
The former Kartzone Karter of the Year underscored his desire to regain the top spot which he conceded to Juan Antonio “Tonyo” Carcel last year, as he finished the race with the best lap time of 31.330 seconds
In other classes, the Mini ROK was won by Mikey Jordan from Manila with a time of 8:58.790 while Frederick Cortes won the 4S novice and expert class as he took the checkered flag in 14:19.333. Seven Aleman won the 4S cadet with a time of 5:45.227.
“It was a very exciting and challenging race especially with the race run in an anti-clockwise manner. Most of the karters are used to running this track in a clockwise direction. The addition of the newly built “Momentum” chicane gave the race a totally different character all its own,” said race organizer Kim Limgenco.
