Paypa leads ALA boxers’ win in Bacolod

Cebuano Jimmy Paypa scored an impressive unanimous decision victory over Christian Abila in a 10-round non-title bout of last Sunday’s ALA-Cobra Tunay Na Lakas fight card at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The 20-year old Paypa, who fights under the banner of the famed ALA Boxing gym, improved his record to 13 wins (with four coming by knockouts) and two losses. He also  extended his winning streak to 11 after defeating Abila in the 125-pound  division. Abila absorbed his 12th career loss. He has nine wins, one via knockout, and three draws.

Six out of the seven bouts were actually won by ALA Boxing Gym’s prospects from Bacolod City.

Juren Labordo (10-0, 6KOs) scored a technical knockout win over Ricky Sabia (10-10-2, 5KOs) of Elorde Stable of Manila in the 114-pound bout.

The younger brother of WBO Asia Pacific Super Bantamweight champion Genesis Servania, Rolando, won against Zamboanga del Norte’s Jonas Sultan in the 115-pound division .

Junjesie Ibgos (5-0, 4KOs) also beat  Mamark Siano of Butuan City in the 126-pound division while Alvin Sibugan beat Steve Recaborda of Dumaguete City for his first pro career win.

John Rey Melligen and Roniel Parcon completed the Bacolod boxers’ impressive performances. Melligen edged Jemart Amlani while Parcon defeated Albert Campilan.

However, Romel Redondon’s debut went bad as he was knocked out by Butuan City’s Raul Yu. His loss prevented a sweep for Bacolod boxers.

This event is a developmental program of ALA Promotions and Cobra Tunay Na Lakas Energy drink in their thrust to help young aspiring Filipino boxers.
