Pregnant woman comatose after suicide try over live-in partner’s death; baby safe
The live-in partner of one of five men who were killed as they were walking on a bridge between Pasay and Makati cities ended up in a coma after she reportedly shot herself in the head last week.
Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca, Pasay police chief, said that doctors managed to save the baby of Maricel Cabrera Bautista, 25, who was seven months pregnant.
However, Bautista has yet to regain consciousness after she was believed to have shot herself in the head with a .22-cal. firearm on Friday afternoon.
“The baby boy, alive yet premature, is being kept in an incubator,” Llorca said.
He added that investigators have yet to rule out foul play in the incident although based on the initial evidence gathered by probers, it appeared that Bautista tried to kill herself.
“Her cell phone contained cryptic messages, saying she wanted to end her life because of her husband’s death,” Llorca said.
