SWU ward Goloran eligible to play
Consider it a huge scare for Southwestern University– one that was immediately resolved after the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy declared Cobras forward Daryl Goloran eligible for the season upon further checking of the player’s records.
Goloran was initially disqualified by the Cesafi’s screening committee headed by Tiukinhoy last Thursday after it ascertained that he had not gained enough credits to qualify for the league’s upcoming season set to open on Aug. 3.
But upon additional checking on Goloran’s documents, it was found that the committee had made a mistake in counting the number of units that the player was officially enrolled in, paving the way for his reinstatement.
Tiukinhoy immediately issued a statement addressed to all the school heads of the different Cesafi member schools yesterday which said, “This will inform you that after a careful review of the records/documents of Mr. Daryl Goloran, it was found that he is qualified to play in the 13th season of the Cesafi tournament. Our apologies for the error during the screening.”
Goloran’s inclusion into SWU’s roster for the Cesafi season bolsters the Cobras’ chances at making it two titles in a row.
He is expected to be a starter and will be backed up by Bernie Bregondo, Melvin Holper and Rey Mark Alcuno.
