Employee volunteers plant mangroves in Olango
DEDON Manufacturing Inc. Cebu and the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation Inc. (CCEF) jointly conducted a mangrove planting activity in barangay Talima, Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City recently.
Sixty Dedon employees led by corporate affairs officer May Aldemita, together with the CCEF headed by Analeh Patindol trooped to barangay Talima to plant some 2,500 mangrove propagules.
The site in barangay Talima is being supported by the CCEF to sustain biodiversity in the area.
Dedon took charge of the propagules while the CCEF did the hauling. Barangay officials and local residents took charge of the cleaning and preparation of the site.
Prior to the actual planting, a mangrove seminar workshop was conducted by the CCEF at Dedon manufacturing plant for all the participants.
The workshop tackled the importance of mangroves to the eco-system and marine life and the proper way of planting it.
Article continues after this advertisementAfter the planting activity, Dedon turned over the marker of the mangroves site to the barangay officials and residents who will take care of the mangroves to ensure their survival.
