Parañaque fire displaces 40 families

A RAGING fire gutted 20 houses in a compound in Parañaque City on Saturday night, displacing some 40 families in Barangay (village) San Dionisio.

No casualties were recorded in the nearly two-hour blaze that started at 10:40 p.m. at 1340 Lorenzana Compound on Quirino Avenue, according to arson investigator Senior Fire Officer 3 Teodorico Gatchalian.

Some 30 minutes after the fire broke out, Metro Manila fire marshal Chief Superintendent Santiago Laguna asked every available fire truck in the metropolis to help battle the fire in the area.

According to him, the fire spread quickly throughout the compound because most of the houses in the area were made of light materials.
