Attacked by suitor

A 53-year-old  woman was critically wounded after she  was shot and beaten up by his estranged husband’s relative in barangay Babayongan, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.

Natividad Millan, a farmer, sustained a gunshot wound in the left arm. She also sustained bruises in the right eye and bite wounds in the left arm and left leg.

The suspect, Bienvenido Millan, 32, remains at large.

Police said a personal grudge could be the motive behind the attack.

Millan had been courting the woman but the victim turned him down repeatedly, said PO3 Franklin Dian, Dalaguete police investigator.

Police said the woman was sleeping in her house when the suspect barged in around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Once inside, Millan shot the woman with a gun.

The suspect also punched the victim in the right eye and bit her in the left arm and left leg.

Although wounded, the woman was able to run out of the house and hid in her  neighbor’s house.

While hiding, the victim was informed that her house was already on fire.

The fire quickly ate up the house which was made of light materials.
