Marinduque-Lucena boat trips canceled
MANILA, Philippines – Big and small sea craft in ports of Marinduque were not allowed to travel to Lucena Thursday due to big waves, a regional civil defense senior officer said.
Neri Amparo, senior civil defense officer in Mimaropa region, told INQUIRER.net that ports in Balacanan in Mogpog and Kawit in Boac canceled trips to Dalahican Port in Lucena in Quezon since 9 a.m.
In the state weather bureau’s warning Thursday, strong to gale force winds associated with the surge of southwest monsoon were affecting the seaboards of Luzon.
As storm Emong left the Philippine territory Thursday morning, the low pressure area west of Batangas has developed into a tropical depression midday Thursday and was codenamed “Fabian.”
“Fabian” is not likely to hit land but will enhance the southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
