California grants ALA Promotions fight license
ALA Promotions has taken a huge step in its bid to promote fights abroad.
ALA Promotions CEO Michael Aldeguer said yesterday that they were recently granted a license to promote boxing fights in California, USA.
With this, Aldeguer’s vision of holding international fight cards such as what Top Rank Promotions has done can now be realized.
“We are very thankful to them for giving us a chance to showcase Filipino boxing talents in California,” said Aldeguer. “This would open a lot of opportunities for ALA Promotions.”
Aside from California, ALA Promotions is also targeting the Middle East. He even mentioned the possibilities of promoting Latin boxers and other nationalities under the banner of ALA Promotions.
With regards to its Manila fights, Aldeguer said it would take time to fully establish its name there the way they have accomplished it here in Cebu.
“It’s like planting seeds for future harvest. We are just started in Manila. Maybe three to five years, we can establish followers of boxing in Manila like what we have in Cebu right now,” said Aldeguer.
The Solaire Resort and Casino, according to Aldeguer, will play a huge role ALA Promotions’ bid in Manila. “Actually, we had a very difficult time negotiating with the Solaire Group. Thank God we made an agreement to take the fight card there.”
